7 Steps to Success

Step 1: Relationship

Over the Rainbow Dogs is committed to building a relationship between you and your dog based on mutual respect, trust, love, and cooperation.

Step 2: Proper Early Socialization

Over the Rainbow Dogs is dedicated to the fact that proper early socialization to people and other dogs is one of the most important things you can do for your puppy. Classes offer the opportunity for your puppy to develop socialization skills in a safe, controlled, and supervised environment. Proper early socialization will help your puppy become a well-adjusted and safe family dog for life.

Step 3: Positive Reinforcement Training

Over the Rainbow Dogs uses only positive training methods. Dogs are rewarded for performing properly. Dogs are never verbally or physically punished during training. Using positive training methods will enhance your relationship with your dog while avoiding the behavior problems associated with training methods that incorporate physical punishment.

Step 4: Preventing Behavior Problems

Over the Rainbow Dogs believes it is easier to prevent behavior problems than it is to fix them. In puppy classes you will learn how to prevent behavior problems like separation anxiety, nipping, jumping for attention, resource guarding, fearful behaviors, and more!

Step 5: House Training

Over the Rainbow Dogs will help you learn how to teach your puppy where you want him to eliminate using positive training methods and helpful advice. You will learn how to prevent and solve house-soiling problems.

Step 6: Crate Training

Over the Rainbow Dogs believes that crate or confinement training is necessary to your dog’s long-term happiness. Throughout your dog’s life he may need to be crated while receiving veterinary care, or while boarding, traveling in the car, or at hotels and other establishments. You will learn how to desensitize your dog to his crate and make it a safe, enjoyable place.

Step 7: Regular Veterinary Care

Over the Rainbow Dogs encourages regular visits to your veterinarian to protect the health of your dog. Regular veterinary care will eliminate behavior problems associated with diseases and other conditions. In class you will learn how to desensitize your dog to handling associated with the veterinary exam. As a result your dog’s trips to the vet will be easier and less stressful for you, your dog, and your veterinarian.
